I chose the topic of finding housing in Isla Vista because it was something I was not aware of and wish I had known more about at the time. Freshman year is already a big adjustment, and learning about the housing process early can prevent additional stress later on. Finding housing involves many decisions, such as choosing roommates, creating a budget, researching different locations, and knowing when to begin applying. Because housing in Isla Vista is limited and competitive, waiting too long can leave students with fewer and more expensive options.

Simply being aware of the process and knowing what resources are available can help make this transition easier. Through this project, I hope to give students information that helps them feel more prepared and confident when beginning their housing search. Although the process can feel overwhelming, planning ahead and asking for help can ease the process.
